Born in Pittsburgh, Dr. Louik earned his undergraduate degree in neuroscience and behavior at Vassar College, graduating with general honors, and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Morningside/West in New York City, followed by a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he served as chief fellow in his final year.
Dr. Louik is known for helping patients and families feel comfortable, understood, and accepted from the very first visit. He approaches care through a developmental lens, taking time to understand each person in the context of their past experiences, relationships, and stage of life. He sees medication as only one part of the picture, and works alongside patients and families to support not just symptom relief but meaningful change.
Dr. Louik has a special interest in diagnosing and managing ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, OCD, depression, and tics. He works with patients across the lifespan, offering medication management alongside psychotherapy when indicated, with training in DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic-informed approaches. Dr. Louik is a collaborative clinician who values a team-based approach, working closely with families, therapists, schools, and other providers to keep care coordinated and consistent.
